Our boys are 11 and 12. They will be starting 6th and 7th grades very soon and are now too old for kids classes during worship service on Sunday morning. They still have their own class during small groups and will have a Wednesday night class where they can hang out with their friends in the fall. But for now, they are sitting with Adam and I in the worship service and we LOVE it.
There are so many upsides to having them sit with us. They are hearing/learning good Biblical theology of which to build their own faith, they are learning to sit still and pay attention for longer periods of time, and they are watching their parents worship – which we think is a great model for them later. They’re seeing that mine and Adam’s faith is the real deal. They are also understanding the way we parent them is because we are responsible to God for guiding them during these years.
But let’s be honest. They’re kids and they get bored easily. So, armed with mints/gum, pens and paper, we try to help them listen while not getting to fidgety. I decided to make these for them to take each Sunday and they like them! So print some off and see if these help your kids get more out of worship services at church! You’ll be amazed at what they retain.
